Camryn Matus

COMPETITIVE DEPARTMENT HEAD

PART-TIME / FULL-TIME COMPETITIVE TEACHER

Born into the Rhythm family, Camryn started her dance training at the age of 3. She progressed through the RDS company and competitive teams, training in styles such as jazz, contemporary, acro, lyrical, hip hop, tap and ballet as an award-winning performer. She attended Earl Haig Secondary School as a dance major within the Claude Watson Arts Program, advancing her training in both ballet and modern dance. For post-secondary education, she attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, graduating in 2022 as a Sociology/Business Major. There, she continued her dance training, competing as a member of the award-winning Queen’s University Competitive Dance Team.

Camryn officially joined the Rhythm faculty in 2015 where she has taught dancers from recreational to competitive levels, ranging in age from 2-18. Her choreography has won numerous awards within the Competitive Canadian Dance community over the last several years. Today, Camryn is an asset to the Rhythm Dance team. Assuming the role of Competitive Department Head, Camryn is responsible for managing Rhythm’s growing part-time and full-time competitive teams, as well as teaching and choreographing for all ages and levels.
